The Youth Service Bureau is a sound, fiscally responsible, private non-profit 501(c) 3 human service agency with a reputation for excellence, cost-effective programs, and a history of success in working with at-risk youth and their families.  The year 2011 marks our 30th anniversary serving the youth and families of Lake Pontchartrain’s Northshore community.  We work with young people in need of encouragement, counseling, outpatient substance abuse treatment, education, and in so many cases, redirection regarding life’s choices.  We guide parents in helping their children make better decisions and in seeing that their children attend school regularly.  We also provide critical volunteer advocacy for the abused and neglected children of St. Tammany and Washington Parishes in the foster care system.

As we look ahead to our fourth decade of service, the Youth Service Bureau’s highly trained, professional staff understands that teens and parents today face greater challenges as young people are exposed to situations beyond our imagination thirty years ago, some only a click away on the Internet.  Drugs are more readily available to our children.  Juvenile delinquency is on the rise.  School drop-out is a grave issue.  Child abuse continues to be a tragedy that must be eliminated.  All of our agency’s programs, outlined here on our website, are designed to prevent and curb these problems.  We move forward into the next decade tackling these issues via our skilled, passionate, creative staff and our selfless volunteers, with the inspiration, resources, and incredible support of our truly amazing board of directors.
