The Youth Service Bureau believes that teenagers matter. We have put years of effort and study into helping teens whose lives have gotten off-track. We also believe that treatment matters. The Youth Service Bureau provides licensed, outpatient juvenile substance abuse treatment for youth who come to the attention of the City Court of Slidell’s Juvenile Drug Court due to drugs or alcohol and are ordered to participate in the Drug Court program in lieu of incarceration. The treatment program runs one year or longer, including intensive assessment and phases of treatment. Our goal is to ensure that these troubled teens have access to solid, timely treatment as we work to help them develop coping skills to maintain a substance-free lifestyle in their journey toward recovery. The family plays a large part in the youth’s treatment process, learning to respond to the needs of its members, discovering the role its members played in the poor choices the teen made leading to and resulting in drug usage, and promoting abstinence. We therefore offer individual and family sessions as well as groups such as Parenting Support Group and Multi-Family Group. During the treatment process, we also educate family members on substance abuse and addiction. Our goals with families include reducing substance abuse and restoring structure and health to the family. Throughout the treatment the Youth Service Bureau provides for these young people struggling with alcohol and/or substance abuse issues, the youth remain under the jurisdiction of the City Court of Slidell’s Juvenile Drug Court, will attend Court regularly to review progress, and will be subject to random drug screening to help ensure abstinence, all in an effort to help them succeed. The Youth Service Bureau is a member of a team of caring, concerned people who join together to help the greater Slidell area’s youth address their drug and/or alcohol issues, providing resources and treatment to maintain a substance-free lifestyle: The Honorable Jim Lamz, Judge, City Court of Slidell Teenagers matter to the Youth Service Bureau. |
